If you’ve ever said “If I only had a penny for every time…” we’ve got good news for you. By using the online search engine GoodSearch you can donate a penny to the Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA) every time you search the Web for information, videos, or images. You can even donate by shopping online from retailers such as Altrec.com, Backcountry.com, Gaiam, Patagonia, REI, Sierra Trading Post, and Under Armour. (When shopping, use the links on GoodSearch.com to access your favorite online outdoor retailers. Donation amounts are a percentage of the cost of the purchase and vary by retailer.)
Each time you use GoodSearch you’ll be donating one penny to the nonprofit of your choice (such as the PCTA). Just go to www.GoodSearch.com and use the easy links to make GoodSearch one of the search engines included on your Web browser’s toolbar. The site utilizes Yahoo! Search – the second most popular search engine after Google – so you get good results. The money donated comes from GoodSearch’s advertisers so it doesn’t cost you or the PCTA a thing.
So far, more than 47,000 non-profits are listed with GoodSearch, including the PCTA. If 1,000 people use GoodSearch twice per day for a year with the PCTA as their beneficiary, the Association will earn $7,300! As you search for gifts for your friends and family this holiday season, please use GoodSearch and give a gift to the PCT at the same time. |
