Wilderness Dancer- Dancing in the Wild Places

Jean (trail name pending) is the Trail Boss or Mastermind of the expedition. She is an Army Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Just 2 weeks into trail and already has she faced a number of setbacks: a horse cut her hoof to the quick, her other horse stepped on her foot partially breaking it, and most recently same horse bucked her off again this time fully breaking a hand. Trail will continue after resupply and doctor visit. Fellow tramp is Ryan (trail name not even close to guessed) is the hiker. He was Air Force, but don't hold it against him.

We completed our PCT hike on September 11, 2007.  It was a two-summers adventure - beginning on May 9, 2006, south of Compo, CA.  In the first "chunk" we hiked from the Mexican border to I-80 in about three months.  On May 30, 2007 we resumed our three and one-half months journey north to the Canadian border.  What a thrill for us (Slim was 64 years old and Mona Lisa is 61 years old) to complete the PCT.  We have hundreds of photos, dozens of new friendships, and a life time of memories. Initially, we had great trepidation about the challenge of the PCT.  Could we do it?  But, as the saying goes, "Do the the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain."  In the summer of 2008, we will begin hiking the Continental Divide Trail.  Wish us luck since we still have the same trepidation.
