Tried to hike North from Bridge of the Gods to Panther Creek. A few large blow downs from table mountain, (approx. 2400 ft. and up), however these are passable.
Hit patches of snow, that turned in to solid packed snow, about 8 feet deep, (around 3400 ft.), on the lee side of the mountain. Trail was lost about half a mile in to the patches, had to turn around. Might be able to continue with proper equipment, however, trail is difficult to negotiate in these conditions.
To be safe, head east on highway 14 at bridge of gods, and left on rock creek drive, if rock creek is your destination.
Or just wait another month for all that stuff to melt! Have fun and safe hiking!

About 10 miles north from Panther Creek, deep compact snow completly covered the trail, at the area right before the "gully" as the book describes.   Coordinates are: N 45o 50.732W 121o 47.404Had to turn back at this point

6-8-08: Hiked Southbound from Trout Creek. (FS-43) Some recent trail clearing until getting up to about Sedum Ridge where blowdowns / snow start. Still heavy snow in many shaded / wooded locations from there on. Snowy trail is extremely difficult to locate & follow, only doing so by means of finding PCT markers or cut log ends. Nearly 100 blowdowns must be negotiated (Sobo) until reaching Northfork Rock Creek, where excellent clearing has been done south to CG-2070 where we bailed. Early wildflowers are showing!

May 17th - Tried to hike south from Road 2000 (see map H3) to Bridge of Gods, but very quickly hit way too much snow at only 2300' (road 2090). Basically the trail in not passable now.
There are several blowdowns too that will hopefully get cleared once the snow melts, they'll slow you down but shouldn't stop you.
Water is not likely to be a problem in southern Washington this year.
