Slim Gym and Mona Lisa
We completed our PCT hike on September 11, 2007. It was a two-summers adventure - beginning on May 9, 2006, south of Compo, CA.
In the first "chunk" we hiked from the Mexican border to I-80 in about three months. On May 30, 2007 we resumed our three and one-half months journey north to the Canadian border. What a thrill for us (Slim was
64 years old and Mona Lisa is 61 years old) to complete the PCT. We have hundreds of photos, dozens of new friendships, and a life time of memories.
Initially, we had great trepidation about the challenge of the PCT.
Could we do it? But, as the saying goes, "Do the the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain." In the summer of 2008, we will begin hiking the Continental Divide Trail. Wish us luck since we still have the same trepidation.

"Slim" G. Shealy
http://trailjournals.com/slim
Slim set out April 28th for his third trip down the PCT.
He started at the Southern Terminus in Mexico headed for
Canada.
When asked, "Why?"
He replied, -- "If you have to ask, then I can't explain
it." -- He went on to quote Kurt Vonnegut: " Fish
got to swim Bird got to fly Man got to sit and wonder; Why,
why, why." -Kurt Vonnegut.
Daniel Woods
http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?trailname=5816
Come follow Dan as his dad journals his journey northbound on
the pct. He will be hiking from April 5th till July 1st
and then from August 10th till Canada. Will the desert
be dry? Will there be snow up high? Danger? Adventure? A
show of courage? Or maybe the most uneventful 2,665
miles you have ever read about? Dan is out there looking
for something so let us hope it isn't lying at mile 2,670.
Scott "Voyageur" Piddington
www.trailjournals.com/voyageur
This 2007 thru-hike will
begin on May 10th. By the end of my 2004 AT thru-hike the PCT
was inevitable. With decades of backpacking under these feet,
there is just no no way to stop. The deserts of Southern
California will surely push this New Hampshire bread hiker a
bit beyond his comfort zone. Can't wait.

The quest to turn dreams into reality, to me, is what life is
about. The Pacific Crest Trail to me is a dream

ahead. Best of luck to all of the ’07 hikers!

"Naked Hiker's Day" (June 21st) and will celebrate

Greg Cope
http://www.naturefocused.com/articles/john-muir-trail-report.html
I dreamed of hiking the John Muir Trail since I was a child camping and hiking in the High Sierra. After many years the dream finally became reality in 2003, when I spent 13-days solo on the trail hiking from Yosemite Valley to the summit of Mount Whitney. A trip of a lifetime, my journal describes my experiences and includes some amazing images from my trip, as well as an interactive photography map locating where many of those pictures were taken.

Ken and Marcia's hiking started on California's costal ridge.

Peter Haskell
http://www.trek.st-albert.com/
On April 15, 2000, Peter Haskell takes a sabbatical from his
business, The NLP Center of Texas, and begins a thru-hike
of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. His goal is to
walk the length of California, from the Mexican border at
Campo to the Oregon border at Ashland. For Peter, diagnosed
in 1985 as having Parkinson's, it is quite an unknown as to
whether or not this daunting hike is feasible. He has set
a minimal target of hiking over San Jacinto Peak, 200 miles
from Campo, but the real challenge is the 1700-mile length
of California.
