Mount San Jacinto State Park campground open to PCT hikers despite mid-week closure

The Mount San Jacinto State Park campground in Idyllwild is closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through May 1st due to budget cuts, but Pacific Crest Trail hikers can self-register and camp at the park campground in the hike/bike campsite next to site #7, according to Park Superintendent Garratt Aitchison.

A restroom and shower are available for registered campers. Shower tokens are available from a machine near the campground office.

Mount San Jacinto State Park resumes daily operation on May 2nd.

It’s important that PCT hikers self-register, even though there may not be anyone at the park to check that they have done so. The park is a friend of the PCT and the State Park finances are in a world of hurt.
