Warner Springs Ranch closed last week, apparently so it can finally be sold to the Pala Band of Mission Indians. The ranch is a hot spring resort near Pacific Crest Trail mile 110, popular with hikers. The sale was first announced back in 2009.
When I visited Warner Springs Ranch today, I found the resort, gas station, restaurant, and golf course all closed. A few employees remained to provide security and care for the ranch livestock.
It’s possible that Warner Springs Ranch will be closed for some time, since renovation of the property has been discussed.
2012 PCT hikers should send resupply boxes to the Warner Springs post office, which was always my recommendation. The ranch was never set up well to deal with the large number of hiker boxes at this point on the trail.
