PCTA’s 2014 annual meeting wrap-up

More than 100 people attended our 2014 annual meeting Saturday, April 12. The event allows us to formally recognize outstanding volunteers and to announce our financial results from the previous year. It’s also a great and enjoyable way for PCTA staff to engage with members, volunteers and donors.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. We continue to celebrate more than 85,000 volunteer hours given in 2013. Those hours are valued at just over $1.8 million in volunteer labor.

We recognized two outstanding trail maintenance volunteers at this year’s annual meeting. Janette Storer was honored for founding our NorCal Trail Crew. Charles Williams was honored for logging out more than 550 trees on 140 miles of trail near Mount Lassen in Northern California. They both go above and beyond.

Thank you Janette Storer for your dedication towards improving the trail and for founding the NorCal Trail Crew! Janette is standing with PCTA's Big Bend Regional Representative, Ian Nelson.

Thank you to Charles Williams for founding Pounder's Promise and for his commitment to the trail. Last year, Charles logged out more than 550 trees from the PCT! He's standing with our Northern Sierra Regional Representative, Justin Kooyman.

2013 was another successful financial year for PCTA. We raised just over $1.4 million privately. Combined with About $975,000 in government grants, our revenue for the year was slightly more than $2.4 million. We ended the year with an increase in net assts of $158,536 after operating expenses.

Our members elected four recently appointed members to our Board of Directors: Chip Herzig of Yerington, Nevada: Bill Kulczycki of Park City, Utah; Tim McGuire of Carlsbad, Calif.; and Tom Reveley of Seattle, Wash., joined the board. Scott Jacobsmeyer of Round Rock, Texas was elected to a second term and Barney Mann of San Diego, Calif., was elected to a third term.

We live tweeted the meeting and you can see it in the history of our twitter account.
