Please welcome Mark Waters as the newest member of the PCTA staff. Mark was hired in a new position as our associate director of philanthropy. He’ll be helping connect PCTA donors to our work and inspiring and encouraging new supporters to contribute to our programs. He will work from our Sacramento headquarters.
Mark is looking forward to helping raise much needed financial support. The money we raise ensures that the trail is well maintained and accessible as a world-class wilderness experience for today’s adventurers and those of future generations.
Mark was already an avid hiker in his native England when he first experienced the PCT 28 years ago. He says he remembers being awed not only by the physical majesty of the PCT but the vision it represents.
Mark comes to the PCTA with many years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including international relief and development organizations in Africa and the Middle East.
He received a B.A. in environmental studies from Pitzer College, California, and a Masters degree in international development from the University of London. In his free time Mark also enjoys travelling, sailing and cycling.
You can reach Mark at 916-285-1902 or at [email protected].

Please join us in welcoming Mark Waters to the Pacific Crest Trail Association!
