Washington Trail Closure

Delancy and Cedar Creek fires on North Cascades Highway

Updated: 9/7 at 12:00 pm

These fires are approaching 100% containment and the closure area has been reduced in size. It’s still a good idea to check to make sure the situation hasn’t changed before heading out, but the outlook is much better than it has been.

Two fires are burning east of the Pacific Crest Trail along Highway 20 (North Cascades Highway). The Delancy Fire is closest to the trail (about 3 miles) and the Cedar Creek Fire is burning above Mazama.

The Pacific Crest Trail is open.

While the PCT is open, smoke and other factors should be taken into account if you decide to head to trail in this area. Risk management is a very personal decision. Read our advice on how to manage the risk of wildfires.

On July 15, the Cedar Creek and Varden Fires merged together and are now being referred to as just the Cedar Creek Fire.
