Washington Trail Closure

Holman Fire, Pasayten Wilderness, Washington

Starting 8/31/18, the closure in Pasayten Wilderness is being reduced in size. Yes, a route to the northern terminus of the PCT just reopened! This page now reflects the new situation.

The Pacific Crest Trail is closed for 17.5 miles from near the Slate Peak Lookout (mile 2623.6) to near Woody Pass (mile 2641) due to the Holman Fire burning on the PCT at Holman Pass.

Detour discussion

Online mapping tools indicate that this detour is 21.4 miles and bypasses 17.5 miles of the PCT.

From Hart’s Pass, take the Buckskin Ridge Trail #498 for ~2 miles to the Whistler Cutoff Trail #575.  Take the Whistler Cutoff Trail #575 for ~2.3 miles to Robinson Creek Trail #478.  Head north on Robinson Creek Trail #478 for ~10.2 miles to Rock Creek Trail #473.  Head west on Rock Creek Trail #473 for ~6.9 miles to Woody Pass on the PCT Trail #2000.  Head north on the PCT #2000 to the Canadian Border.
