Washington Trail Closure

Travel into Canada via the PCT is prohibited

Updated 1/31/2023

Travel into Canada via the PCT is not allowed at this time.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has suspended all Canada PCT Entry Permit processing. The CBSA is NOT accepting applications. Canadian citizens are also not allowed to enter Canada via the PCT at this time.

PCTA is talking with the U.S. Forest Service and the Canada Border Services Agency about restarting the Canada PCT Entry Permit program, but we do not have any updates or news to share about the possibility of the program restarting in 2023. PCTA hopes that the program will restart soon. We believe that crossing into Canada via the PCT is a special part of the PCT experience. We will update this page once there is news to share, but at this time this is the only update that we have.
