The conditions on this part of the trail were in excellent shape with no felled trees across trail and tread was in good shape also, water is a different story with McIvers Spring not flowing but thanks to trail angles there were three gallons of water in the old cabin thats there. Yellow Jacket Spring was at a trickle. Did this hike on 5/3/14

Section F is now open and has been almost 8 months. There was a fire in Section F in August 2012 and the PCT was closed for a few weeks. I checked with the BLM in late August 2012 and was told the trail is open. I was in Tehachapi at the time and had read in a local paper that the closure had been lifted. I hiked in on the first 8 miles of the trail and had no problems.

Did a day hike on 5/6/12 from Cameron overpass to Cache Pk. The trail needs a little brushing right along the freeway and alot of the BLM and PCT signs are either knocked over or just plain faded and need to be replaced.

After the trail leaves the freeway its in pretty good shape but there is one large dead Pinyon Pine across the trail just 1 mile south of where the trail goes into the jeep road.

And there is alot of rocks and fluff where the dirt from above the trail needs pick work right there on the east end of Cache Pk where the trail crests over Sweet Ridge.

I hiked Section F from Hwy 58 to Hwy 178 from June 18 through June 24. I created a waypoint file for most/all of the blowdowns in the section as there were a lot of them, some recent, some old, a few really large ones with long side trails being created. In a few areas, there is a problem with motorcycles on the trail, and they were creating more “go-around gouges” for some small blowdowns that hikers just step over.
