Repair Eroded Areas on Sawmill Mountain

| | , , | |

Water drains off the Maxwell Truck Road in several locations and causes erosion on the trail. There are no suitable materials close by to make repairs, so this volunteer crew will be importing dogbones to build structures. Dogbones are precast concrete bars with ears on each end that resemble dogbones. They can be interlocked to build significant structures. We will deliver them on Maxwell Truck Road close to the work site so they will not have to be carried far. Thursday and Friday (Oct. 10 and 11) will be for transporting the dogbones. The Saturday through Wednesday (Oct. 12-16) will be for building structures. There will be lots digging and moving soil. Come one, two, or as many days as you can! Many hands make light work.

Mormon Rock Day Project (Nov.)

Once a month, the Cajon Pass Chapter gets together for a big day of trail work. Come out and join us! These day projects are great for first-time trail maintainers because there’s always a variety of tasks you can try and new skills you can learn. The exact work location is decided in the weeks leading up to the project, but the crew always meets at the tool cache at Mormon Rocks.
