Big Bend Saw Training Registration

Thank you for your interest in the Saw Training and Certification courses at Big Bend Trail Skills College!

Please note the following requirements for this training:

  • A current First Aid and CPR certification is required for a saw certification to be
valid. If a current First Aid and CPR certification card is not on file at the PCTA
Sacramento office prior to the training, your registration will be terminated and
you will be unable to attend. Submit a copy of your certification cards to the PCTA
Sacramento office by email, fax, or mail:

    • Email: [email protected]
    • Fax: 916-285-1865
    • Mailing address: PCTA Volunteer Programs, 1331 Garden Highway,
      Sacramento, CA 95833
  • Students are required to wear gloves, long pants, long sleeves, and leather, over
    the ankle, cut-resistant boots.
  • Crosscut saw students are asked to complete a free online crosscut saw training courtesy of Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center and the University of Montana. Visit www.umt.edu/crosscut-sawyer and click the green Registration button.

Attending PCTA’s Saw Training and Certification Course does not guarantee
certification. Certification cards will only be issued to those who exhibit proficiency,
safety, and leadership using the saw.

For questions regarding registration, please contact PCTA Volunteer Programs
at [email protected] or (916) 285-1838.

* Recertifications are eight hour courses. If you are applying for a recertification, please submit a copy of your saw certification card to the Sacramento office.
