Eagles Nest Outfitters receives the PCTA’s Corporate Partner of the Year Award

SALT LAKE CITY – The Pacific Crest Trail Association recognized Eagles Nest Outfitters, Inc. (ENO) as its 2017 Corporate Partner of the Year. This award, presented at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Show in Salt Lake City, recognizes ENO’s leadership in support of the Pacific Crest Trail.

Eagles Nest Outfitters was founded in the summer of 1999 and has steadily grown to be the leading provider of ingeniously crafted parachute hammocks and outdoor accessories. ENO offers the highest quality relaxation products for adventure travelers and outdoor lovers everywhere.

ENO’s Giving Back program is based on the belief that individuals can use their purchasing power to protect the planet. Through the program, ENO partners with outdoor retailers nationwide to support conservation organizations. In 2014, the company created a Special Edition DoubleNest Hammock co-branded with the Pacific Crest Trail. For every hammock sold, the PCTA receives a $10 donation.

“ENO has been an extraordinary partner for the PCTA,” said Williamson. “Since we began working with them in 2014 through their Giving Back program, sales of their PCT-branded hammocks have generated $105,000 for the Pacific Crest Trail. Those funds have gone directly toward protecting, preserving, and promoting this 2,650-mile national scenic trail. What ENO has done is a remarkable example of how companies and their customers can make a difference in the conservation of national treasures like the Pacific Crest Trail.”

ENO also creates awareness of the trail and the PCTA in its marketing and promotional materials, Williamson said. And they are avid supporters of our efforts to permanently protect the trail experience, she said.

“We’re honored to receive this award from the PCTA,” said ENO General Manager Lane Nakaji. “The Pacific Crest Trail is legendary throughout the world for its beauty—and the wilderness areas, national parks and forests and national monuments it traverses. Helping to protect the PCT for future generations is a big part of our mission at ENO.”

The PCTA is the only private conservation organization dedicated solely to the Pacific Crest Trail. The nonprofit works closely with federal agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service and Bureau of Land Management to maintain and protect the trail, which runs from Mexico to Canada along the spine of the West’s great mountain ranges.

In 2016, more than 2,000 volunteers managed by the PCTA completed more than 104,000 hours of work maintaining and repairing the trail. The organization is also in the process of permanently protecting the remaining 10 percent of the trail that is not on public land through strategic land acquisitions. Each year thousands of hikers and horseback riders travel the trail, some completing the entire 2,650-mile trip in one season.
