Minto Pass Brushing/Tread

| | | |

Seeking 6 volunteers for a weekend project where we’ll add some much-needed drainage dips and remove numerous baby trees that are overgrowing the trail in a recovering burn area. We’ll meet at the Jack Lake Trailhead at 8:00 AM and backpack two miles to Wasco Lake, where we’ll make a brief stop to set up camp before heading up to our work area on the PCT. We’ll spend the night at Wasco Lake, then return to the PCT for a 1/2 day of work before breaking camp and returning to Jack Lake. This is a good opportunity for new volunteers who’d like to experience several different types of maintenance work on one outing.

Park Ridge 2 – Build new trail!

Join this pack-supported crew building a brand-new segment of PCT amongst the spectacular sub-alpine meadows of Mt. Jefferson Wilderness. You’ll replace small segments of trail that are badly eroded due to suboptimal alignment in fragile soils. Constructing new trail means dirt digging, root chopping, brush clearing, and rock moving. There’s some artistry to it, and plenty of tangible satisfaction. An AmeriCorps crew of young adults makes up half the crew, and PCTA volunteers such as yourself make up the other half. Together we’ll make vast improvements to the trail in the high country, with Mt. Jefferson looming overhead.
