After a series of late February storms, precipitation along the Southern California sections of the Pacific Crest Trail is 52% of normal for the year, based on National Weather Service Data from four locations near the PCT. This compares to 57% of normal for this time last year.

Fire restrictions go into effect on June 15, 2013 banning campfires and smoking along the Pacific Crest Trail in Plumas National Forest. The PCT runs across Plumas National Forest from about mile 1,210 through mile 1,294.

Idyllwild campground open to PCT hikers
The Idyllwild state park campground will allow Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers to camp on closure days again this year. The park is closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until May 1st due to state budget cuts.
